I am a 52-year-old male C4-5 quadriplegic of 29 years as a result of being hit by a drunk driver. I’m paralyzed from the middle of my chest down with certain areas still somewhat functional and with slight sensation. I live and own a three-bedroom home with a female who is also disabled, we are not legally married, but just live together. She is a para-single leg amputee and works full-time. I have four daughters 28-29-30 & 32 (worked really well that wayJ ) all married and three with children totaling six granddaughters and one grandson.the rest is about the job.

Job Description:

I’m looking for an individual who doesn’t smoke or drink, has a good driving record, has a good personality, an individual who is responsible, caring, honest, dedicated, open-minded, a touch of shyness is always fun, someone whose priorities are not about how much they make, but the quality of care they provide. The individual must speak English well and be willing to relocate to Wisconsin unless I decide to move to a warm placeJ .

Now "Finally" about the job:

The following cares are required, colostomy care, external condom catheter care (which hooks to a leg bag during the day), range of motion to my legs before I get transferred to my electric wheelchair every morning, on shower days (usually every other day) empty my colostomy bag while in bed or transfer me to commode chair and empty it in the role in shower, then proceeded to wash my hair, shave me and wash my body. All transferring is done by older hoyer lift. Before I’m dressed always check my backsidefor any skin irritation or breakdown. After I’m dressed and in my chair you make me breakfast or brunch or what ever. During the afternoon and the rest of the day it’s just a matter of emptying my urine bag when necessary or colostomy when necessary. Also doing light housework, later fixing supper and feeding me, taking me to whatever appointments I may have.

During the overnight hours generally 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. you would get up two or three times to check my colostomy, checked my urinal and if I am having respiratory problems possibly more frequently.

Wages:

Wages from Monday through Friday generally from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. runs around $12 an hour, weekend hours are Saturday and Sunday usually 8 a.m. until around noon again at $12 an hour.

Overnight hours usually run from nine or 9:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. in which you would get up two or three times a night depending on the situation, but usually twice a night. We can negotiate salary or hourly pay if an individual wishes.
